How to choose hotel linen? Generally, hotel linen (cotton fabrics) is mainly chosen in white or light colors. However, the size selection, fabric differences, and craftsmanship techniques of hotel linen vary from one hotel to another. In this issue, our editor has compiled and shared some tips on how to choose hotel linen?
Hotel linen generally includes one bed sheet, one quilt cover, and two pillowcases. Before purchasing hotel linen, you should first consider whether the quilt core size is universal.
For example:
The bed is 1.5 meters wide: the quilt cover is 200*230, the bed sheet is 230*250, and the pillowcase is 74*48
The bed is 1.8 meters wide: the quilt cover measures 200*230/220*240, the bed sheet measures 250*270, and the pillowcase measures 74*48
For a bed width of 2.0 meters: quilt cover 220*240, bed sheet 250*270, pillowcase 74*48
There are three common styles of hotel linen: fitted sheet, fitted sheet with fitted bottom, and bed skirt/bedspread.
1: Bed sheet set of four pieces: bed sheet *1, quilt cover *1, pillowcase *2. The bed sheet style is convenient to lay, but it tends to move around easily. You can tuck the excess part of the bed sheet into the mattress, or lay a non-slip thickened cotton fitted sheet or non-slip mattress pad.
2: Fitted sheet set: fitted sheet *1, quilt cover *1, pillowcase *2. The fitted sheet style is very tidy and doesn't easily shift. If it's an innerspring mattress, lifting the mattress is required when using the fitted sheet style, which can be inconvenient.
3
Bed skirt/bedspread set of four: bed skirt/bedspread *1, quilt cover *1, pillowcase *2. The bed skirt type is placed on the bed, with a skirt hanging down vertically, which is very beautiful.
There is a wide variety of cotton fabric materials, including cotton, linen, silk, etc. The grades of use are divided into 40s, 60s, and 80s, with the yarn count being the standard for yarn thickness. The weight of the yarn is how many meters it is per gram, which is referred to as the number of grams per meter (GSM). It is a key indicator for evaluating the quality of bedding fabrics.
For example, one gram of cotton can be made into 40 meters of yarn, equivalent to 40 grams; 1 gram of cotton can be made into 60 meters of yarn, equivalent to 60 grams. Generally speaking, the higher the count, the finer the fiber, the thinner the fabric, and the softer and more comfortable the texture of the four-piece set will feel.
Generally, the thread count of cotton fabrics in hotels and guesthouses ranges from 40 to 60, while particularly high-end star-rated hotels may use 80 or 100 thread count fabrics.
There are two common weaving methods: twill weave and plain weave. Fabrics woven in plain weave (where warp and weft threads are interlaced every other thread) are called plain weave fabrics. Plain weave fabrics have a lower density, are lighter and thinner, and have better wear resistance.
/ Schematic diagram of plain weave fabric / The warp and weft of twill fabric are shorter than those of plain weave fabric, but due to the longer length of twill fabric, its wear resistance and fastness are not as good as those of plain weave fabric under the same conditions of warp and weft. / Schematic diagram of twill fabric / Generally, hotel linen is not suitable for twill fabrics, as it needs to be washed frequently and has relatively high requirements for wear resistance!
